Amid Incredible Hardship, This Granite Stater Is Still Spreading “Good Vibes”
After the death of their younger brother “Red,” Caitlin McGrath-Levesque and her two siblings turned their grief into action. They knew they wanted to honor Red’s legacy in a way that reflected his passion for volunteering in the Seacoast area.
Beginning with a donation of $100 each, Caitlin and her siblings created the nonprofit “Red’s Good Vibes.” Now, the nonprofit’s food truck travels around the Seacoast providing free, hot meals to those in need.
For the siblings, the most important aspect of Red’s Good Vibes is making sure that their clients are treated with respect and dignity. That includes never asking for suggested donations while actively serving meals and providing multiple different meal options. This makes the food truck feel more authentic and erases some of the stigma that can be attached to accepting food donations.
The nonprofit collects discounted food items from the New Hampshire Food Bank and local restaurants and grocery stores and employs a dedicated group of volunteers to provide their service to the community three days a week.
Thanks to these volunteers, Caitlin and her siblings are able to distribute 1,500 hot meals a week to Granite Staters in need. The siblings hope to double that through a second food truck that they will begin leasing from the City of Dover.
After experiencing tragedy, Caitlin and her siblings were able to turn their loss into a way to authentically represent Red’s spirit and provide a service for those in need. I am honored to name Caitlin as December’s Granite Stater of the Month.
